Dil Hei Betti Ki Aasha: Light the Hope Candle

We thank ‘Young Presidents Organization’ (YPO) for lighting the candles of hope andspending-time-with-kids-in-the-comminity empowering the girl children under the coordination of Bethany Sisters of Burari Village.  The YPO has kindly consented to extent their help to these girl children for their overall improvement and to bring back them to mainstream education.  We aim to provide support to build up competence and skills of the dropout girls to mainstream education. We expect, in turn the empowered children would be able to reach new heights, bring success in their life and feed their family. The implementation of the project started in July 2021.

Majority of the people here are migrants from the neighboring states in search of employment and are working in the agriculture field & farms. The children, especially girl children, during covid-19, have to dropout of schools.  They are not only impoverished but lack nutrition and also are responsible for the care of the younger ones.  Their socio-economic condition is so pathetic and their basic amenities and infrastructure are limited.

While visiting the villagers to provide food, medical, nutrition and other essential services to contain the spread of covid-19, we have seen the plight of girl children who are school dropouts and malnourished.  We have identified 31 girl children under poverty line to provide assistance for their overall development (Physical, Educational, Nutritional, Social, Mental, Moral Values and Responsibility).

The program is progressing with the coordination of Bethany Sisters who has been working in Burari since 2012, focusing on health and social development programs, de-addiction programs, counseling, naturopathy, formation and monitoring the Self-Help Groups, community-based geriatric care, promotion of low-cost medicine and non-formal education specially helping the school dropout.

Our objectives are enhancing the process of academic, intellectual and vocational skills of the dropout girls; develop their character, personality and culture based on the values and morals; develop physical, mental, spiritual and social aspects of the children and helping them to become good citizen; motivate and support the dropout girls and their parents to continue their education; and support children to achieve better score in their academic sessions.

To achieve the goals, we organize non-formal classes for dropout girls on regular basis; organize extra-curricular activities to improve the creativity and skills; Provide nutritional supplements; organize meetings and events with parents to make sure a peaceful environment for their children’s education and social life.
